Our Faith

“But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
John 20:31

Biblical

We believe. teach, and confess that the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and the New Testament, are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, given by the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit, and that God is therefore the true Author of every word of Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:16) Holy Scripture never errs, nor does it contradict itself. All doctrines and practices of the Church are to be ruled, governed, and judged by the Holy Scriptures. Scripture has been written so that men may believe and come to the knowledge of Christ Jesus, our Lord. (John 20:31) The Word of God has the power to save by calling sinners to repentance and faith in Christ Jesus.

Sacramental

The faith to which all men are called to through the Gospel is lived out and sustained in the congregation, the gathering of saints. It is in the Christian Church that the Spirit sanctifies, forgives sins, and nourishes and sustains faith. He does this through the proclamation of His Word and through the Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist, or the Lord’s Supper. These Sacraments are given to Christians so that they might be brought into the safety of the ark of the Holy Christian Church (baptism) and so that they might be nourished and sustained by the true Body and Blood of Christ (Lord’s Supper). For in these sacraments, forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are given to Christians.

Confessional

As Confessional Lutherans, we subscribe unconditionally to the Book of Concord, which contains the following documents: the Unaltered Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, the Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, the Small and Large Catechisms of Doctor Martin Luther, and the Formula of Concord. We subscribe to these documents because they are a true exposition of the doctrine of the Holy Scriptures.
