“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
1 Corinthians 14:40

God Is Present

In the Divine Service, we come into the very presence of God both to receive the things that He desires to give us and to offer our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving to Him. What we do is shaped and formed around this fact. Every aspect of the liturgy serves to emphasize and point to the fact that God is active in our midst in His Word and His Sacraments and working to forgive us our sins for the sake of Christ, bestow us with the everlasting salvation won by Christ, and cause us to grow in a life lived in faith toward God and in fervent love for our neighbor.

Liturgical

The Liturgy is a broad term that encompasses all that is spoken and sung in the Divine Service, as well as all of the movements of the Divine Service, such as standing, sitting, kneeling, and the like. At Christ Lutheran, we value the historic liturgy of the western Church, both because it gives indication through its form and beauty that great and glorious things are taking place during the Divine Service and also because it is centered in rich songs, words, and symbolism that points to and exults Christ our Savior. We also utilize the historic vestments and paraments of the Church for the same reasons.
